“I died three times at the hospital…”
Angie Webby Wrhel suffered a massive heart attack and while in the hospital had a reaction to a drug that cost the Wilkes-Barre resident her kidney function and both legs.
Allied Integrated Services partnered with MEGCOMM Films and MLB Advertising to tell “Angie’s Story” in a powerful 3 minute web video deployed in conjunction with both 30 and 60 second television commercials currently running on regional television in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Angie credits highly acclaimed Heinz Rehab Hospital and Allied Services Home Health for giving her hope. “I begged to go to Heinz and when I got there, I finally started to get my life back”, she said.
“It’s easy for others to tell you not to give up. Jackie and Dominic actually gave me the tools to do things for myself again. They went above and beyond to help me rebuild my life. I can’t thank them enough.”
Jacqueline Zukosky visited Angie in her home. An Occupational Therapist with 27 years of experience at Allied Services, Jacqueline taught Angie how to care for herself, from showering and dressing, to cooking and using the washer and dryer.
Dominic Dalmas, an Allied Services Home Health Physical Therapist, taught Angie how to maneuver safely around her home, including climbing the stairs inside and outside her home.
Angie remembers the day Dominic helped her take her first steps outside, how it felt to breathe in the fresh air and hear the birds singing.
Angie is doing well on her prosthetic legs, but still requires dialysis treatments. She recently She undergoes kidney transplant surgery in weeks. Ironically, her donor is a long-time Allied employee.
MLB’s John Bartorillo and MEGCOMM filmmaker Mike Gorga met with Angie, who conveyed her story over three hours of inspiring discussion. The team of Bartorillo, Gorga and lighting gaffer/sound recordist Tom Mooney then shot Angie’s testimony in her kitchen two weeks later.
The story was assembled in one of two High-Definition editing rooms at MEGCOMM’s Wilkes-Barre studio, literally a block from Angie’s home. “We all came away from this project inspired”, said Gorga. “Allied Home Health and John Heinz Rehab do such an amazing job of taking people back to the lives they love and seeing Angie navigate her kitchen and be self-reliant and so good natured and positive about everything made it all a joy — a true miracle in rehab.”
Bartorillo, Gorga and Mooney are looking forward to the home made spinach pies Angie promised to treat them to after her transplant surgery recovery.
Another great collaboration of Allied Integrated Services, MLB Advertising & MEGCOMM Films.
